Unhappy 1999 Brakes

I am trying to change my brake pads in my 1999 VW beetle in the rear. I am turning the piston like it says to do and nothing is happening. Does anyone have any ideas on what to try next? Or what I might be doing wrong. Thanks TJ

Turn them clockwise. They CAN be very stiff to turn if the brakes have been worn back to the backing plates.
