Black hose???

Hi, can someone help me out real quick. I have a 97 Altima and on the air filter there's two tubes that connect to the regulator thing. One is a plug that plugs into the metal part and right by that one is a black hose with nothing at the end. My question is what does that connect to? It's just hanging there and my check engine light is on, I'm trying to figure out if this is the reason why.

So if anyone is kind enough to check under their hood for me, I'll appreciate it.

I think what you're looking at is the transmission breather tube, so don't worry about it. The first time I found that I wasted a half an hour trying to figure out where it went.

Re: Black hose???

The hose with a molded hook on the end goes inside the plastic tie on the air cleaner box. It only connects to the transmission, and it just hangs there. The Nissan engineer responsible for that design must laugh about us and the time we have wasted several times a day.
