Smile Mercedes CLK GTR in the process

Hey everybody. I am new to AF and i am really excited to start posting pics of my models. I am 16 and have been building models for a long time but it has only been the past 2 years when I decided to actualy use paint and put effort into my models. I have a Tamiya Mercedes CLK GTR that I have worked on for the past year. I goto school so I stopped in the middle of the year. I got the whole interior done but my mom dropped it. So it was just recently that I put all the peices back together. I am making it into the street version and not the Warsteiner version. Right now, Daggerlee, who you all might know is helping me spray the shell. You guys should check out his work. He is a good friend of mine and I remember when I told him that he should try model building and that it would be fun. Now he has completed more models than me. It's all gravy though. But I wasn't very sucessful at spraying the shell. It did not help that I sprayed it in a dusty basement and it came out very bumpy. So I had to use lacquer thinner to remove all the paint which was a pain. I learned my lesson though. I don't have a digital camera but I got a friend to take a pic of the interior of my CLK and it should be sent to me by tomorrow. It is a really nice detailed model. While waiting for my shell, I started on a Celica model from Tamiya. It is the same one that my sister drives. I wanted it to be the exact replica of her Celica but the rims don't match. I looked everywhere for the 5 spoke rims that she has but I wasn't successful. Even Daggerlee couldn't help me find it. But the whole interior of the Celica is done. But again I messed up the shell and I am reordering the whole model becase it is only a couple bucks more than the replacement parts. So please check back around tomorrow when I will have my CLK pics posted. Don't forget to look out for my Celica pics too. I really want your opinions because since I am new here, I want to know how my work is compared to others. I want alot of compliments but whats more important is the things I can improve on. Thanks. Hope to here from you guys.

Thanks for feeling for me Enots and Tenzora. Enots, that model is sickening(in a good way). I like the engine detail. It looks very realistic. I had to look back a couple of times to make sure it was a model so I wouldn't offend you if it was a real car. It makes the Shelby in Gone in 60 seconds look like Geo with NOS. By the way, I should have my pics up by tomorrow.

Hey jax! Glad you finally worked out your problem getting on here. These guys are the best, I learned a lot from them, you will too (you better )

I started polishing your CLK-GTR yesterday here are some pics:

Still need to polish out with Tamiya compound, but there are some imperfections that didn't polish out with the sanding which I will need to do over with an airbrush. It's still going right on schedule though

Thanxs Daggerlee. Yeah, I figured out that I can only get onto AF.com if I use Explorer. The shell looks really good from the pic. But don't rush yourself. I want the shell to come out nice and to look better than you know who. I can wait to see the finished product.

cant wait to see the finished pics in the meantime. why dont you find some scrap model/plastic to practice spraying on in the meantime? this hobby requires learning from mistakes, and the more mistakes you learn from the better you'll get

hey daggerlee? is that Tamiya Gloss Aluminum that you just polished?! I can't quite make out the color... is it silver or white or something? Damn.... it's taking me forever to get shine from Future Floor Polish.... it just dries up somewhat sticky and dull (although smooth to the touch) and i have to keep on adding Future, then sand, then wax, then Future again, then sand again, then wax again, etc... it's taking forever

maybe next time i'll try some Tamiya Compound instead....

Unhappy

Hey again! Daggerlee, the shell looks good from the pic. Don't rush yourself. I want the shell to look better than you know who. Uumm...for some reason, the pics of my CLK-GTR isn't coming up. I was told by daggerlee that the reason for that is becasue my pics are on my free webpage which is hosted by Angelfire. So I'm not sure what I am going to do but I'll figure something out. If you can help me or have advice on how I can post my images, please let me know. So I'll try to figure out this problem and keep u guys posted on my progress.
