better aftermarket 3.1L intk manif gasket?
Anyone know if there's an improved gasket available for 3.1L intake manifolds? Some Mfr. out to be rescuing us from the oem crap! Mines ok but just lookin down stream on what if. How much has anyone paid for a shop to change it?

Re: better aftermarket 3.1L intk manif gasket?
In June of this year I paid my Pontiac dealer for this service. "Upper intake warped and leaking. Necessary to replace upper intake manifold and gaskets". Parts $175.00, Labor $288.90....Total $463.90. Don't laugh.

Oops mine is the 3.8L engine. But your point probably applies to both.

Re: Re: better aftermarket 3.1L intk manif gasket?
I couldn't be more sympathetic my freind. We all share our exp. to learn & help one another. I stoped @ advance parts 2nite & saw 3.1L int. gasket by fel-pro, looks same as GMs' CRAP! Big gasket is plastic & moulded red seals, smaller ones are fiber w/moulded red seals, 2 O-rings & rtv also.
Doesn't any mfg'er make a sturdier gasket with metalic or even carbon fiber base? We all would be glad to pay a LITTLE more for better lasting gaskets! Last edited by bombergp; 08-18-2005 at 06:11 PM. |
