Cam sensor
I am wondering if anyone can help. I have my check engine light on and had the car flashed at my local shop. They told me it was a cam sensor under the pack where the distributor used to be. My question is this usually a $400 to $500 repair and could I install this sensor. Also is there any chance that I could damage the engine having gotten the code/check engine light. Thank you

I had the camshaft sensor replaced twice on my sable . $400-$500 is about right for the dealer charge. The first time it was replaced, the car had about 38,000 miles on it. I talked Ford into eating about 75% of the repair cost and just paid 25% myself. After that I invested in an extended warranty through Wynns (sp?) and the second camshaft sensor was replaced under the warranty.
The failure of the sensor will undoubtedly lead to other problems. My advice would be to get it fixed as soon as you can. |
