Dont let the name of this thread make u think i am tryin to brag or anything..
Got my 82 T/A done a week ago friday, at 2 AM. Drove it to the Car Craft Nationals at 8 the next morning, and home on sunday nite. Had an oil leak, and then when we (me and my dad) got there, the fuel pump (stock) took a dump, and so we installed a Holley blue one.. and the oil leak was diagnosed by my dads friend, an ex-engine builder. so we got the problems fixed. I turned 16 june 15th, and been working on the car since august 2003. Lots of custom stuff was done to the car, and probably my coolest acheivement was the carbon gauge panel, which i wired up, and worked! Anyway... at the Summer Nationals i won Youngest Participant. This weekend we went to the Car and Driver Magazine 50th Anniversary event, and they had a car show that me and my dad both entered with our cars. I won Readers Choice, and Editors Choice.. pretty cool. Not many people believe that i built the car, so i got tested a lot. Im going to be in the event coverage in Car Craft in a few months, and may be on Car & Driver TV.. and i got interviewed last friday or thursday for V8TV, on The Mens Channel. Pretty awesome accomplishment for me. if u want to see the specs of the car, go to my site, www.schwartzperformance.com/ygen.htm .. i dont really know what you all would reply for in this thread though.. lol .. just an info-thread

I agree, I believe that you should be shot. Looks like the work is quality, but doesnt appeal to me.

well thanks for all the positive feedback..

what dont u like about it? the wing? the wheels?
the wheels r from a C5 vette, and the wing is similar to ones from the70's/80's.. and it also looks like the C5R racecar wing. Racing seats, rollbar.. gauges.. what the hell r u guys into then? all motor? hmm..

Okay, very impressive. I have to say congrats on being a young gun and being able to develop a car in such a fashion. Not many people get to work with their dad on an actual project car and follow through with the idea. I know my father and I never did get to start up on either the Celica or the Cuda, but I did get to witness his buildup of a series of corvettes that totaled up reciepts above the 200K mark (all from one customer).

I'm not for certain, but I think the ZR-1 or Grand Sport style wheels would have worked with that body style as well, but that's my own preference

All in all, it is your car, be proud about that.

Secondly, the Ultima GTR on the website is absolutely brutal! Love the development of those cars as a street legal racer.

Have you had a chance to get in on any SCCA events? You'll really get a chance to prove yourself and the development of your car. Give you a chance to improve on this project as a progress to something bigger. The most important part of al in tuning, Keep a record of all you change, what results you got and what the conditions were when you did your testing! It'll get you ready for the R&D guys that want to get down and dirty and want you to prove it (Just like the guys at the show).

Wow! I've never seen headers glow purple before hehe. Found it in the Poison Dart section...

I am into stock looking powerful cars.

Yours clashes too much. The red stands out WAY too much.
They may be C5 wheels, but I have never seen a C5 with red rims.
The red clashes.
The wing doesn't fit the lines of the car at all.
The hood. WS.6 hood belongs on a WS.6. In my opinion it doesn't fit the lines of ANY other cars.
Did I mention the red clashing?

Re: 2 shows, 3 awards, 16 years old

I also see you are claiming 477 N/A horsepower.

Mind me asking how you got that?

Re: 2 shows, 3 awards, 16 years old

i just got the car done a week ago friday, so no SCCA events yet.
My favorite colors together are red and black. How the hell does the red clash? what does it clash with? i like the WS6 hood, and i think it makes the car look very aggressive in the front, and its also functional. Were planning to seal it to the air cleaner sometime too. I liked the red stripes, and they would be lonely without any other red on the car. So, red wheels were the ticket. Have you seen many black cars in magazines? its because they dont stand out. Red wheels grab your attention a LOT. The wing. The only part of it that doesnt fit the lines is the very rear edge, from a side view. The hump in the middle matches the rear window, the endplates we made are parallel to the top of the rear quarter, and the front edge matches the line of the bottom of the rear window, where the window meets the body.
Engine specs-
400 sbc bored .030 over, so its a 406.. eagle cast crank, eagle forged rods, probe alum. forged pistons, 10.2:1 compression i think.. vortec iron truck heads- ported, 1.6:1 roller rockers, 244 duration @ .050 solid roller Comp cam, beehive valvesprings, edelbrock RPM air gap intake, holley 870 Street avenger carb, naturally aspirated.
We invested about 8k into the car, and if you had to duplicate it (we have 19 sponsors) it would be about 15k. If i had to sell it, i would add about 1000 hours of labor that was put into it.
Obviously this isnt your type of car, if you are into stock-looking. However, it will run 12's n/a.
The 1st time i ran it was 2 days ago at IRP.. 100 degrees, no nitrous, and the first time i had ever dragraced in my life, and ran a 13.79 @106.. my 60 foot was a 2.2 lol.. no traction- no burnout. its also not completely dialed in, so it will for sure get into the 12's.
Back to the clashing things- black, red, silver, carbon.. i dont see the clash.. maybe the beige, original carpet and backseats?

oh.. sorry, you said 'did you pay'.. i thought u said 'wut did u pay'..
no, i didnt pay for it. but i work at my dads shop on customer cars, so i guess, in a way i paid for some. But besides the paint, i did probably like 85-90% of the work myself.. including the whole assembly of the engine..

477 horse and you can only get 12's?

Something isn't adding up.
