B&M shifter

i just wanted to know if those B&M short shifters are worth the 135 bucks and if the 35% shift reduction has any big performance gains or not?

$135 - damn - I've got one in my shop I'd sell you for $60 right now. Plus shipping.

Re: B&M shifter

man jump on that from 4G4D. Plus you might want to look for the Energy Shifter bushing, thats the set up im going for my shifter....

4G, can you do a special for that like $70 the short shifter from B&M and the bushings from Energy? that would be a sweet package, hit me up if you can...

Re: B&M shifter

135 is waaaay pricey. I have one on my 89 REX. It makes a big difference over the stock shifter. I like it.....

Re: B&M shifter

I'll check and see what those bushings run and see what kind of deal I can setup. Also, I just installed one of the b&m short shifters on my 4g4d, and I'll tell you that it cuts your shifting throw is cut half at least - it's going to take me a few days to get use to not moving the shift knob a lot - lol. As for performance, it doesn't add any horserpower of course, but it does help the shifting a little - it's easier to get a quick shift.

Re: B&M shifter

theyre two different versions of the B&M short shifter; the $130 one has a bearing at the bottom, and comes with a new cup(or whatever its called):

and the $50 one(atleast thats how much i paid for it shipped from ebay):

Re: B&M shifter

I got a alluminum shorty from ebay for $30, came with bearings but no bearing spacer. I cut about 3" off the top(just enough to get my ball on). Problem was that the bearings would rattle when my engine was reving over 4000, and i couldnt tighten the bolt too much without fuckin the bearings up. So what i did was take 2 swiss skateboard bearings and a spacer and put them in. I tightened that shit up and now no rattle and shifts like a dream. Just need to get a lightened flywheel to shorten up the shifting even more, oh and the shorty gave about a 50% quicker throw but still gotta wait for the engine to come down in revs. Oh and i put in the ES bushing set and it made it even better.

Re: B&M shifter

yea i found that the short shifter that goes for 50 buck plus the ES bushings go for 10 bucks, so $60 or $70 bucks would be a sweet deal.....

Re: B&M shifter

why should i kill myself? the inersia(cant spell) of the heavy wheel wouldnt spin longer then the lighter one? Or how about the time it takes to go from bottom rpms to top rpms wouldnt be faster?
