Lumina Minivan
I am planning on buying a 1996 lumina minivan with only 54,000 miles on it. The owners are an elderly couple friend of the family and he is anal about his cars so I know it has been taken care of. Is there anything in the Lumina history that I should watch out for?
Thanks for any input you have. |

Re: Lumina Minivan
what motor does it have? 3.1 or 3.8? If its the 3.1, the lower intake gaskets usually fail causing coolant to mix with oil. Sadly, I think my luminas intake is blown or head gasket, because I had the coolant flushed a while ago, and it was good. It lined up perfect on the hot and cold lines, but now, when the car is cold, its low, and when hot, its halfway between hot and cold. Any ideas? Blown head gasket? Intake Gasket? No leaks evident. No milky oil. The level seems to be holding steady low. if that makes sence. The car has only 56,000 miles on it. But anyways, if the motor is a 3.8 defenatly go for it, thos are indestructable motors. If its the 3.1 be ready to do a lower intake gasket job if it hasnt already been done. good luck
