Camaro not started for years

I have a 1992 Camaro RS 3.1L V6, I have been stationed over seas for 4 years and the car has set in a storage building. What should I do to start it besides changer the oil and filter, flush fuel system, and coolant system?

Thanks
Ken

Yes there is a small amount left in the car but I was told by a chevy mechanic to add a gas treatment for storage. I do not remeber what the name of it was but he recommended something and that is what I used.

Why will it hurt it?

I am going to flush the tank out before I start it anyway just incase.

Well gas goes bad if its just left there.. BUT im sure whatever the mechanic told you to use is perfectly fine since always before you go into storage you use some kind of gas treatment that makes it not go bad.

I dont think bad gas will hurt anything it will make starting up the car difficult though, but flushing the gas is the best way to go to make sure your car starts up fine.

If there is a good amount left in there and you dont want to drain it i would put in octane booster and try that or fill the rest of the tank up with premium or super to try to balance it out.

Yeah.. if its like a quarter or half a tank left, I would drain it.. that much gas being thrown away = throwing away gold..

He used an additive. He should be fine.

If you want you can syphon a little bit out of the car... pour it on the driveway and light it on fire. If it burns its good.

Re: Camaro not started for years

my camaro started up and ran fine on gas that was 10 years old.

My other chevy car started and ran (acually still runs) fine on 5 year old gas.

im sure you will be ok. Just use the gas you have and drive to the gas station and fill up.
