Complete: 1999 Mustang Drag Car

Well, this one is FINALLY up and on the shelf. This has been in progress since April. It has been finished for a week or two now. I just now got some decent pictures so I could get a Completed thread up. If you want to see some in progress shots go here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=402003 . I'll give you a quick run down of the Mods, All frame and cage work was done with brass

Scratchbuilt parts
Frame
wheelie bar
Cage
Interior Tub
Rear Wing
electronics board
pedals
blower blanket
diaper
headers

Resin parts:
Bestresin.com-
MSD Box
Sun Pro Tach w/ Shift Light

Perrysresin.com-
Battery Box
Fuel Cell
Pulley's and belt

topendminiatures.com-
Lenco Transmission

Competition Resins
Blower Hat

PE Parts
Quick Turn Fasteners

Kit Parts
Most kit peices came from either the Mcdonalds funny car or the Mobile 1 dragster

Seat
Steering Wheel
axle
engine
blower
parachute
front tires
(not sure where rear tires came from)

I'll outline a couple of things, how I did a few things
The headers are made from solder
the blast blankets are from cloth medical tape painted flat black
tire lettering is done in acrylic white
lettering is dry transfer
parachute shroud line is fishing line

Enough with the boring stuff and on to the pictures. I hope that you enjoy, I know that I have enjoyed every bit of this build!

C&C encouraged

Re: Complete: 1999 Mustang Drag Car

oh, a couple more quick comments. This was originally labeled a pro mod build. but that it is not. all but the engine set up resembles something more like an outlaw 10.5 car. or an outlaw street. Something like what Billy Glidden Runs. The engine is not correct for any lower class drag car, as they wouldn't be running two magneto's or twin fuel pumps. but I like it. lol

Just to toot my own horn a little, I think I NAILED the stance on this thing. I LOVE it

Very nice man. I like all of the little details - gives me some ideas for my Merc. Did you make those headers?
Good job on the 'Stang!

Re: Complete: 1999 Mustang Drag Car

yep. The headers were made out of plumbers solder and some aluminum tubing and plastic stock for flanges. If a mod could add Completed Drag Contest Entry: 1999 Mustang Drag Car. thank you

wow great work on the chassis/frame! The car looks very menacing I think it woulda helped though if you painted the black trim on the windshield
