AEM/Nissin pads dead after 12k miles...
Here are some pics.
the braking power was a little bit better than my OEM pads, but i must say the OEM pads last much longer. I replaced my OEM pads after 23k miles ONLY because i wanted to put these pads on. These pads however went down to the BARE metal as in the second picture. and only 12,000 miles I just bought another set of OEM pads and I'm happy with them, knowing i won't have to change them in a while. Plus they are cheaper. |

one thing to add:
my brembo rotors haven't cracked and luckily lasted through these AEM pads.. even though the pads were down to the metal, the rotors don't have any signs of uneven wear. |

My AEM pads lasted 20K miles, 30 autocrosses, and one track day. Something weird was happening with your brakes.

Did you ever check to see if something was wrong with your brakes? That seems wierd for those to wear down so fast, especially given CivicSiRacer's input. What were you doing, just hammering on your brakes at every stoplight, just to test them out?
![]() Im just curious as to why this happened to you, I was thinking about getting some AEM pads myself. |

So whats the deal here? The rotors, the pads, maybe they were put in wrong, or was it something else? Anyone else have this problem with AEM pads?

the amount of force need to stop the car compared to mine will be evenly distributed across four pads as opposed to my two pads. therefore with my lousy drums, the brake pads will require a higher friction coefficient to stop my car thus wearing out faster |

OEM pads work great...I've used all the "high performance" pads and OEM are not any, if at all, worse.

Did you properly break in your pads too? Did you replace front and rear brakes at the same time or only the fronts?
