Recently after coming off the freeway onto a city street, my car completely died. The engine quit and the oil light came on. Panicking, I turned off the car and started it back up again. It worked fine for a minute, then shut off again. I took it to get the oil changed thinking that it might help, but I had to drive with one foot on the accelerator and one on the brake to keep it from going below 1000 RPMs. What is going on?

Re: 94 Dodge Intrepid not idling
Could you try checking the engine codes? Turn the ignition on then off then on then off then on, watch the check engine light, it will blink codes, a number of flashes for 1st digit in code, then a longer pause, then a second set of flashes for the 2nd digit. Code 55 is the code for end of codes and this is a normal condotion of there are no codes stored. If you can check that I can look up the code for you.
