Fuel Sending Unit
I have a 1995 Lumina, and the gas gauge won't work. I've been told it's the sending unit. I was wondering if I could just replace that, or if I'd have to replace the whole fuel tank. I was also wondering if I could use the gas tank, or sending unit off of a 93 Cutlass Supreme S. Any comments would help. Thanks.

check at your parts store see if the sending unit for two cars have the same part number you don't have to get a new tank just a sending unit i had to replace mine becase i broke one of the lines when i changed the fuel pump it was about $100 i think that was on a 91 though a 95 may be more exspensive a freind of mine has a grand prix fuel pump went out the sending unit and the pump for that was an assembly he had to buy around $300 for that one i think i don't remeber what year the car is but i think it was newer than 94 |

Re: Fuel Sending Unit
the two vehicles use different senders, so they are not interchangeable. You don't have to replace the tank, just the sender, and because of the work involved, I would replace the fuel pump and strainer while you're in there.
