Question 70 rear brakes

has any one seen the rear brakes on a 70 GMC 1/2 ton truck with no adjusting lever. all i have is the spring going from one shoe to the other and the adjuster screw assembly. the spring is on top of the star adjusting screw. all other G.M.'s i worked on had a lever, cable, ect. still scraching my head. hope someone out there can help me. it's sunday tomorrow or tuesday i'll have to go to the library and find a book about this.

Re: 70 rear brakes

I think someone left some parts out when the brakes were last put together.
Adjusting levers are often not included on some hardware kits. It could be the last mechanic left out the adjusting lever because they were too cheap to buy new ones.
The brakes will work fine without it, but you will have to adjust the brakes manually every few weeks.
