Not being an A/C nut, I'd say it may be what we used to call the blend door. It a door that moves to open A/C vents then flips to open defroster. Sounds like it maybe stuck shut.
I'm sure we will get someone out there that knows more about air then I do.

How about it guys............Can I get a hand here?

Jim if you insist, I'll throw in my 2 cents. Anything to help out a fellow GP owner.

According to the GP service manual the doors are called dash registers. Based on the settings and temperature control the HVAC Control Panel (head) sends a signal to a vacuum actuator which in turn controls the registers/doors, etc. It recommends checking all vacuum lines underneath the dash and the work may involve pulling the head unit plus some panels and plastic.

Tough job and you've got to be a contortionist but it can be done.

BTW - The GM service is vary vague in this area but great in the remainder of the HVAC system. Comes in handy.

Sorry Bob,
But had some computer troubles yesterday. Plus the daughter came in at !:00 AM from Calif. Didn't have too much time to read lastnight. As a matter of fact, the Wife reminded me that I didn't eat dinner. But I'm glad you had the answer for him.
Now can you come by and make me something to eat? The Wife and Daughter are out some place and I haven't had anything to eat>

Re: vent will not blow

Is the blower fan operating, but no air is coming out, or is the fan not working? The blower motor resistor is a VERY common problem in these cars. If you started losing blower speeds or lost all but high, then lost that, your blower resistor is the problem.

Did you ever get something to eat? lol. You know Jim normally I hate throwing my 2 cents in on HVAC problems. A good friend of mine with a 98 GTP had a similar problem. Taking all the advice thrown around in the AF GP forum we changed the blower motor resistor. Fan didn't worked in all speeds except high. We thought we had it fixed and celebrated with a few beers. Two weeks later we had the same problem again. Talk about scratching your head.

Anyway to make a long story short, it turned out to be the ignition switch and harness assembly. Thank goodness, I found an article on ClubGP and something posted by Big-L.

Then last year my Regal LS blower sounded like it was operating at half speed in all positions and I was getting ready to change out the blower motor resistor and the fan. Decided to take a peek at the cabin air filter and man was it dirty and clogged. Talk about getting lucky. I learned a lesson on that one. Reminded me to clean the cabin air filter I installed in the GTP back in 1998. Oh well, live and learn.

That's why I said, "Can I get a hand here."
Just walked in from work. Wife just said they went out to dinner tonight and boy was it good. I said, good, what's for dinner? I don't think I got a reply.

thanks for all of the info guys. since i posted this thread my blower (after eventually kicking on) would cut out all power when i made any right turn but was uneffected by left turns. and now it doesnt blow altogether. i have been really strapped for cash lately so i havent been able to do any work to it. ive just being suffering this summer heat, but i can finally afford to do some work to it next week. if someone could please tell me- what is the best order to go aboutreplacing parts to fix this problem. or should i just take it to the dealer

Re: vent will not blow

try the ignition switch mentioned earlier. That would be affected by turning the wheel as the switch is in the column.
