1997 Grand am shakes

My car has had a shake for awhile now. First I thought it was unbalanced tires, didn't work. When I had the tires balanced the right rear tire had a bad buldge, thought that might be it, nope. Then tried pads and rotars, didn't work. I have had the whole car jacked up and shook all the tires to check for a bad wheel bearing. The only one that even moved a little was the front right and it was so little there is no way its making it shake as bad as it is. The front will shake a little side to side as in the stearing, both wheels move together and im not sure if it should have a little slop in it or not. Nothing else really seems bad or loose. Now it's so bad that i can feel it shake in the stearing wheel from about 25 to 45 and then like the whole car shakes from there up to 75 on the express way. I don't go any faster then that cause the wheels will prolly fall off.

Please help before the thing falls apart.

did you check the motor and transmission mounts?
you have checked it while sitting on jacks standing still;
put it on jacks and put in gear to "feel" and keep the hood up to "see" as well
(might be safety oriented to have someone at the wheel to hammer the brakes if necessary)

hope this helps,
ctesla

Have it checked for a bent wheel. Usually they will just do the best balance they can without looking for this. Slows them down. I bought a new car with a bent wheel and the dealer couldn't find the problem. Finally, when buying a new tire at K-Mart, a young technician showed me I had a bent wheel. New wheel - no more shake.

If motor mounts are loose, engine will flop back and forth when accelerating or decelorating.

Worn U-Joints used to cause shake. Maybe CV joints do also.

Good luck. Shaking drives me nuts.
