Unhappy 97 Lumina, lots of issues...

My lumina's been a great car so far for the 89k miles on it. Only had to replace the alternator since 2000 (although i only drive it 1.5 miles a day). I'm not sure where to start with my issues, but if anyone can help with any of these i'd be more than grateful... It's a 3.1L LS... Newest issue to oldest..

1) Bad hesitation starting and wants to stall a few seconds after. Hasn't stalled yet after start, but this just started today.
2) I smell window washer fluid after cleaning the windsheid.
3) The vents will not move from floor to panel at all.
4) I can only really feel the AC if it's on Max and full fan speed (may have to do with #3).
5) I've seen this issue on the forum but i'll list it anyways. The ABS kicks on when I always come to a stop. Been doing this for a good 2 years now. Local shop couldn't figure it out. I may try removing the fuse like the other poster did. It's also a big drain on the power when it happens; lights flicker, fan slows, etc.. ABS still works in winter.

#1 is the biggest issue, since I have a bad feeling i'll be sitting at an intersection real soon. I'm gonna take a look tonight and see if any hoses are torn or disconnected, but any other advice would be great. Thanks...

Re: 97 Lumina, lots of issues...

1) Do you have a rough/bad idle? I'm thinking a vac hose is loose/deteriorated or the IAC is getting stuck. The more info the better.
2) Might be the fluid smell being sucked into the cabin ducts.
3) Vacuum issue, 9:10. There's an accessory vacuum line on the passenger's side of the upper intake that runs to a check valve, which T's off to the vacuum ball and the vac-electric solenoids under the dash. Check that route carefully.
4) More than likely, yes.
5) Speed sensor might be sticking up? Admittedly transaxles and ABS aren't the strongest of my areas but I know the essentials. Is the light on constantly? I'm wondering if there's any codes being set for the system.

Re: 97 Lumina, lots of issues...

cadgear, thanks for the reply...
1) It seems to idle fine once running. Just at startup it sputters and i have to give it a little gas, but fine after that.
2) guess i'll go check for holes.
3) I'll take a look tonight at the route.
4) Actually there are no lights that come on at all. The "Low Trac" light does come on in the winter when sliding but that's it. THe local shop couldn't get a code reading and referred me to a dealership. It's the power fluctuations during it that bother me the most.
Thanks...
