http://www.hmaservice.com/webtech/ii...749#_394881749 http://www.hmaservice.com/webtech/ii...337#_394875337 What confuses me is where the valet switch is? I've tried looking all over GLS V6 Sonata 2000. I cant believe I need to pay that much for something that just decided not to work one day. Someone please please help... Thanks |

Also here In the paragraph that starts "Programming a new remote" it specifically states "if you do not have a valet switch, to just tap the black and white wires together to count as one "flick", TS out

1999 sonata gls. I just bought the car, and it only came with one remote with no batt. so I bought a new batt. and now am ready to program it. I just want to make sure I understand this right. So I have to take off the driver side kick panel and then what? Im a little confused on the programming switch. I haven't opened the kick panel yet because I'm not at home. I would appreciate any help as I would like to have a working remote.
OR... Should it need to be reprogrammed if a new remote battery was installed, or is it a blow fuse causing it not too work?

OK, I think I figured it out now. Still haven't opened the panel as the weather is bad. So if I don't have the programming switch I will have to tap the wires. Now when I open the panel am I going to see these wires?

I took off the panel right now and my wires are balck and RED not white, and I just came in to grab some wire cutters to take off a zip-tie thats holding them together. Ill put on a nice bright pink one after, lol.
I moved back the clear cover so that it would be easy to tap the wires and I tried it 4 times. First 2 times I did it fast and the second 2 times I did it slow and it doesn't work. What could be wrong? Is there a fuse or something I should check? It's kinda freezing out and I got a runny nose ,lol. The remote has a new battery.

I had this problem and fixed it. The problem is that you guys are trying to touch the black and red wires together which goes to the piezo(thing that makes the churps) If you guys go to the first link and read where it says "FEATURES:" under the clifford or whatever type you have it tells you how to program it and how many times to touch the wires together or your valet switch.
Now for those that can't find the black and white wires look on the second link towards the very bottom of the page. The first diagram shows you which wires coming out of the Keyless Entry system are the "valet switch". Go into your car and look straight up where the fuse box is at and you'll see it. Go ahead and cut any zip ties that are holding the box up there. The white and black wire will be taped up around where the relay is at. Undo the tape and get to programming. Hope this helps. Peace. |

Re: remote keyless entry programming
question: Did all 2000 sonata's GLs come with keyless entry? Just bought a used 2000 GL and only received the large key which does not work on the trunk or glove box

Re: remote keyless entry programming
Just bought a 2002 Sonata Base model that only came with one key and one sometimes-working remote. I tried getting to the Hyundai tech site to find programmaing instructions and can't get on. Can anyone tell me how to program a new remote myself?

After locking my doors with the remote, the thing beeps non-stop. I haven't actually checked how long it beeps because I think it will go on forever. So after hiting the buttons a couple of time it shuts up. Anyone know whats going on?
