I have turned the car off, turned the switch off ( and on and off and on and off) I pulled all of the 30A fuses in the power ditributer thing, and I pulled all the fuses that had anything to do with lights under the sterring wheel.
I decided to just unhook my battery. WHAT is going on??? None of my other lights are on. Not that it matters. Its a 97 sable. other current problem s that MAY be connected...but I am doubtful that they are: the brake light satys on ( due to low fluid..due to bad brakes..working on that...) the heater broke two weeks ago...deal with that headach soon the power windows were sluggish a couple of non-memorable times..awhile ago. I dont know..Im very confused. Why would my headlamps not turn off??? AS I tried to look at other threads in this forum, I kept getting a "this page does not exist" , so if possible, please resopnd to my email, [email protected] I will come back to this meaagae to see if I can at least read this one, but if you have a solution or an idea, PLEASE email me...so I can insure I get your advice. thank you all so so much.. |

Re: headlamps wont turn off
Hey Steve,
Do you have Autolamps? If you do, I would suspect that the light sensor, located up the upper right hand surfzce of the dash, is either cobered, dirty, or defective. Check to make sure it is clear and clean it. You can get to it to replace it by simply pulling up the trim panel on the upper forward portion of the dash by lifting. Get a new one from a junkyard( no reason to try rreplacing parts with new ones until you are sure that is the problem) If you do not have autolamps, I am stumped. Jim |

I've got a similiar issue with my 2001. I've got auto lights, but anytime the switch is set to auto the lights are on ALL THE TIME even in bright sunshine in the middle of the day. Is the little black bubble in the middle of the day the sensor for this, and is it the same for all model years of the sable?

Re: headlamps wont turn off
Thats it. On the 96-99 models it is on the right hand side of the dash. I am not sure where exactly on the 2000 and newer models, but it is somewhere on the upper surface of the dash. Take it out(It should come oput pretty easily, by removing the upper trim panel, which just snaps on.
