excessive inside front tire wear

My 97 catera is scrubing off the inside edge of the front tires. The tires are the factory size, the wheels stock, the front end has been checked for worn components and the alignment is good. It appears the tires are rubbing on the strut cup that holds the spring. It also appears to be happening on the back also but not as bad. Anyone know of any recalls or solutions?

Re: excessive inside front tire wear

I just bought a 1998 catera and had the same exact problem. It was kinda funny because they looked fine on the outside, but when I had it inspected, they showed me my tires and I almost died right there. The problem was my control arm bushings, they were almost gone. This also caused the car to jerk to the right when I came almost to a stop. So maybe you should check your control arm bushings. Hope this helped!
