Question Intrax Lowering Springs

Has anyone installed the Intrax Lowering Springs that give a 1.2" drop in F & B? I would go with the Eibach but want a little lower drop than 1". Need some opinions before attempting to put these on.

Thanks guys

Re: Intrax Lowering Springs

I thought Intrax was 2"?

Lou (QuikLS) has a set that dropped his 2" and I thought they were Intrax...

I've got a set from Springtech that lower 1.5"...

What kind of opinions? I like the look, if that's what you mean...

This is me...

Yep - I run Intrax - 2" drop in all corners.

Handles great.

You do have to be careful - with my body kit on and front splitter - I am less than 4" off the ground.

Re: Intrax Lowering Springs

I'm running factory stabilizer bars. I'm not bottoming out on anything normally encountered during daily driving except curbs and parking blocks. Speed bumps are not a problem, nor are reasonable pot-holes or RR tracks. I started out with factory size tires (235/50, IIRC) and then changed to 245/45, which are about 3/4" smaller in dia. Before the 245s, I could scrape through most automatic car washes in my area. With the 245s, I'm screwed. If there is a guide plate (for the tire) at the car wash, I can't get in. I can't get a normal juack under the car any more, either. My service jack fits and the emergency jack fits, so I'm not concerned about that, but it's worth noting.

Cornering improved modestly. I wouldn't call it a primary reason to do this mod. Ride is difficult for me to call because I changed shock at the same time. I went with the factory "European" shocks, which are stiffer than the "Sport" shocks. My LS now rides VERY similar to my sister's '85 Corvette. It's still comfortable, but NO ONE will confuse it's ride quality with that of a normal family sedan.

My top speed is 150+ (verified) and at that speed, the car is well planted and easy to control. Before my mods, top speed was 140. High speed characteristics have not changed.

Hey Gorman! Was that verified speed caused by a nice looking person in a police uniform?

Re: Intrax Lowering Springs

Fortunately, no. Mr. Valentine has my back. "Verified", only because I know my gauge is accurate and I know what the needle was pointing at... Some people will "estimate" what their car can do and report that as a "real" number even though they've never actually been close. It was still pulling at 150, but that was about all that was in her. 152 TOPS. Of course, there is probably +- 5 mph error in the reading at that speed. I attribute much of the additional top end to the lower wetted frontal area because of the lower stance. Of course, the Xcal also helped.

I've had mine up to 150MPH completely stock...2000 V8 Sport model...not sure why you would say your old top was 140MPH...what mods did you do other than the lowering?

Re: Intrax Lowering Springs

I say it because it's fact...Perhaps my 3.31 gears have a detrimental effect on top end. Which rear end is in your car?

My Performance Mods include: 245/45-17 tires with a recalibrated speedo, EBC dimpled/slotted rotors and Red Stuff pads, Magnaflow Cat-back, Custom 3" aluminum induction kit with velocity stack and 6" K&N cone filter, SCT Xcalibrator reflash w/custom tune, Springtech 1.5" lowering springs, Lincoln "European" dampers.

Re: Intrax Lowering Springs

Here's a picture or two...the intake kit was offered for a short time through the Owner's Club. The builder elected to stop doing the work for us. The velocity stack was machined from a single Aluminum billet slug. I polished mine down to a mirror finish, but they were sold with a mill finish. The tube is hand-welded, mandrel-bent aluminum and was offered as-seen (polished). The club now has two vendors offering this kit as two seperate pieces; the filter/stack and the tube (although it's stainless now).

It doesn't show it, but I've got a cold air box that surrounds the filter and is fed via a 4" duct from the front lower grill area, where I built a custom air collector/diverter that's hidden behind the grillwork, right next to the fog light.

I built the ram air stuff myself after these pics were taken.
