Super Duty 2006 F-250
My dad just bought this truck and was reading the owner's guide. He bought it to tow a 5th wheel when my parents buy one so they can travel.
It has the UPFITTER CONTROLS in it. The problem is, the book dosn't say exactly what they do or how to connect them or anything. It tells us to go to a web-site to buy a book to explain what they do. What kind of crap is this? Can anyone tell me exactly what these 4 AUX Upfitter Controls do? Also, should I buy this book or what? The site is : http://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas |

Re: Super Duty 2006 F-250
They allow you to switch on/off any additional circuits (lights, motors, anything you turn on or off) you may hook-up to the truck. I don't know if they are pre-wired although I imagine they would be and if they are I dunno where you tap into them at. If the book tell you how to hook things into the switch and where to tap into the switches if they are pre-wired and if the book isn't an arm and a leg then I suppose it's worth it.
Just looked at that site, those books are info on building beds for the truck. They give alot of specs and wiring info so you can build or install a bed that is wired right and structurally secure and strong. With that in mind I can only assume the aux switches are wired into the harness somewhere in the bed area. Hope this info informs you. |

Well he did ask for the plow package cause is was only like $85.00, so is this mainly for that? Also, since they are pulling a trailor, couldn't these be routed to keep things running like the refrigerator or what? Can you give more examples of what these things can run... thanks in advance.

Re: Super Duty 2006 F-250
They run anything that you would hook-up that needs 12 volts and a power switch mounted inside the truck. I doubt you'd be hooking up a refrigerator to the truck. The trailer/camper will be supplied 12v through the trailer wiring and will likely have it's own generators/chargers/batteries on-board so things inside the trailer typically won't need to be wired to an in-truck switch.
As far as more examples, work lights, light bar, winch power, neon lights, pto control, basically anything that you add to the truck that needs to be controlled by a switch inside the truck. Things inside trailers usually won't need a switch inside the truck. |
