Re: suspension help?

just to add, i dont care about adjusting the height, and would rather not have the car lowered because my tires are bigger than stock and when i have 5 people in the car they rub

Re: suspension help?

For one, adjustable coilovers can't adjust on a dime, You need AT LEAST 10-15 minutes of time PER wheel to adjust them. Also they aren't made to adjust for rub problems, they are intended for corner weighting purposes for racing.

As for Ebay coilover sleeves, they suck! Plain and simple when it comes to suspension, you get what you pay for. Pay little, expect little.

Re: Re: suspension help?

First thing about suspension, it's not cheap. Be cheap and you will regret it. Stay away from no name ebay crap! I would also start by reading the many post in this section with your same question. The answer will be the same.

Springs:
H&R
Eibach
Neuspeed

Struts:
Koni
KYB
Tokico
Bilstein

My next suggestion: get the right size tires

Re: suspension help?

well the car rides fine wth 1-3, sometimes thers rubbing with 4 depending on weight balance. i just wanta stiffer ride for better handling. i mean tht i dont care about adjustables because its just a street car. would you recomment getting cheap $50 coilovers off ebay just to see if id like a tighter suspenion? i mean, if i think its worth it id pay $600-$900 for a better suspension setup, but i dont know how its like since ive never been in any car that had a modified suspension(other than a strut bar in my old sentra which was worth every penny after i drove with it for a bit.)

Enough said.

What size tires are you using?

H&R springs 3/4" drop -$150

Tokico HP struts - $240

-or-

KYB GR2 struts - $280

You don't need to spend $600-$900 for a mild setup.

Get some new shocks like Koni yellow and sport spring like H&R or Eibach. Sounds like you transport alot of people pretty often . Stiffening your suspension will make for a harsh ride and your passengers will not like it. Anyone i take for a ride in my car complains that its too rough, however I am so used to it, that it doesnt bother me.

well like I said i dont know much about this so i dont knwo what kind of tires i have. the guy i bought the car from told me they are the alloy wheels off the newest civic. I dont care abut people complaining, because the i dont trasnfer a lot too too often, and they can walk if they want. so you suggest i look into sport springs and shocks? ill start researching H&R and Tokiko. thanx

Haven't checked "retail" prices in a while, guess they have gone up just like every thing else. www.tirerack.com

I'd HIGHLY suggest you read up on that before you even think about or consider changing your tire size to a smaller profile. Changing tires won't lower you very much at all, and it's all perportionate to the size wheel you use too, tire size is NOT the only factor.
