I'm a Celica owner with beginner's level mechanical expertise. Although I have done repairs before with my trusty Hayne's manual on the 1966 Ford Mustang (289, 4speed coupe) that I formerly owned, I haven't needed to take a wrench to the Celica yet. This morning I discovered a pool of power steering fluid underneath my left front tire, and after talking with my father, have diagnosed an internal rack and pinion seal as the culprit. My question is for other mechanically-inclined Celica owners--do you think that I may be able to make this repair on my own? I'm located on a construction site in Arizona this summer, and there are ample tools lying around--so that shouldn't be a problem. Obviously I can order the steering rack--but given my mechanical experience, do you think that with the help of a Celica Hayne's manual, taking on this project will prove too ambitious?
Thanks! ~docblink |

Tell us if you try, how hard it is. I have been leaking PS fluid for a year, just kept filling it. It needs to be refilled every 2 months on mine but if i can fix it I will.
