Vehicle Speed Sensors

I was wondering if there was a speed sensor on the right rear wheel of a 1995 Lumina car. I took it into a garage, and they told me that my "check engine" light was coming on because the rear right wheels speed sensor wasn't sending the correct signals. I only ask because it doesn't make sense to me to have a speed sensor on the rear wheel of a front wheel drive car.

Any replies would be helpful.

Thanks.

Re: Vehicle Speed Sensors

If you have ABS then yes, all four wheels have a seperate speed sensor. However, this would not illuminate the SES light, as far as I know, but am unsure about the 1995 year - it was a transitional year that included a lot of new stuff and retained a lot of old stuff.

Agreed, it should cause an antilock fault light but not MIL. That's strange. I'd like to know why it's indicating it that way...

Re: Vehicle Speed Sensors

Could it be a model with traction control?

Yes, it does have a traction control system on it.

Hope this is helpful, and I appreciate all the feedback that I've recieved.
