I have used 93 jeep cherokee sport which has been mine x 9 mos and I drive a lot. Have changed oil several times without problems. Today changed oil as usual with 10w30 - same oil and filter - did nothing else. After change oil pressure is high - off the scale. Normally runs approx 50-60, high point on scale is 80 and is located approx 1-2 O'clock on gauge, it now reads at 3 O'clock on scale and does not return to zero when engine off or at any other time! Engine runs fine, no knock and oil level is normal.
Is this a problem or maybe just a coincindental bad gauge??? Thanks, Bill |

Re: high oil pressure
It sounds as if the wire to the oil pressure sender is shorting out to the ground. Perhaps you knocked the wire, the electrical terminal on the sender or the sender itself, when you were changing the filter.
Try wiggling the sender wire and terminal, and tapping the sender lightly, to see if that makes a difference. If not, you may have a bad sender there. |

Re: high oil pressure
MagicRat,
I did knock the connector for the sensor loose. Pushed it back into place and everything is OK. THANKS, Bill |
