2000 bravada shimmy

I have a 2000 Bravada AWD with Smart Track. At 60mph and over it has a fairly bad shimmy that seems to get worse as the speed increases. The shimmy is felt primarily in the front (felt in steering wheel, seats, floor board). I have sat in the back and the shimmy is hardly noticable. At lower speeds when going over a bump it feels as if there is no stability. These problems are very inconsistant and do not occur all the time. I have put on new tires, replaced the passenger hub assembly, lower ball joints, shocks, changed the transfer case fluid and front/rear differential fluid. I have driven the vehichle with front drive shaft out and problem remains. I have changed the transmission mount and checked the motor mounts. I have checked the axles, cv joints, u joints, and differiental carrier bearings. Everything seems to be OK. The only abnormality I could find was excessive movement from pitman arm, which I haven't replaced yet. Could this cause my shimmy problem? There is also a pecking sound when going over a bump. It seems to be originating from the front passenger side. I cannot find anything that could be the cause. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thumbs up

I had my 2000 bravada in Midas today.Had to have the map sensor replaced. The vehicle seems to want to pull right a little so i asked to have the front end aligned. The guy told me he couldnt do the alignment with replacing the idler arm and the pitman arm.He said that all olds and chevys need to have them replaced as they get older because they just dont have anything else there supporting but those and they just wear out.So that maybe your problem even though i have not had the shimmy your talking about.

Hope this helps,

Mike
