Anybody Know How To Get Rid Of This Trojan Horse Virus?

I've tried to use norton antivirus 2005 and a couple of other ones but this damn thing won't be deleted. For the norton antivirus it always says "delete failed" and i'm WTF, how can you fail to delete something?? anyways i'm a computer NOOB and need some help....help a brotha out...

you could try the scan in safe mode and see if it can delete it from there.

Also since I presume it told you the name of the virus go to symantec or mcafee's websites and look for a removal tool. Just type in the virus name + removal tool and do a search. You can al so do that on google to see if other sercurity firms have that tool.

As Neutrino said, you can try in safe mode. At lot of times things can't be deleted because they are running. Safe mode will keep the program from running so that it can be deleted.

I have the same proplem I here rebooting the computer solves the problem true???

There's more to it than that. You have to reboot and start windows in safe mode, then run the scan again, and then try to delete it.

To start in safe mode, restart your computer and tap F8 a few times after the first screen but before the windows splash screen. It will then ask what you want to do.

about:Blank is a fairly common infection, but it has several variations (some of which can be difficult to deal with). Let's try the quick and easy fix to start with. As for the other problem, I'll know more about it after I see your HiJackThis Log. (I'm guessing it may be smitfraud)

Download CWShredder Here: http://cwshredder.net/bin/CWShredder.exe

Download and install CleanUp! Here: http://cleanup.stevengould.org/

Save all of these files somewhere you will remember like to the Desktop.

Download and unzip HiJackThis into "C:\Program Files\hijackthis" Here: http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip



Update about:Buster

* Unzip the contents of AboutBuster.zip and an AboutBuster directory will be created.
* Navigate to the AboutBuster directory and double-click on AboutBuster.exe.
* Click "OK" at the prompt with instructions.
* Click "Update" and then "Check For Update" to begin the update process.
* If any updates exist please download them by clicking "Download Update" then click the X to close that window.
* Now close about:Buster


Update CWShredder

* Open CWShredder and click I AGREE
* Click Check For Update
* Close CWShredder


Boot into Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please run about:buster by RubbeRDuckY:

* Click Start and then OK to allow AboutBuster to scan for Alternate Data Streams.
* Click Yes to allow it to shutdown explorer.exe.
* It will begin to check your computer for malicious files. If it asks if you would like to do a second pass, allow it to do so.
* When it has finished, click Save Log. Make sure you save it as I may need a copy of it later.
*Reboot your computer into safe mode again

Run about:buster again following the same instructions as above, this time without the restart at the end

Now run CWShredder. Click I Agree, then Fix and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about.

Now run CleanUp!Reboot your computer into normal windows.

Now scan with HijackThis and post the log with your reply.

okay the virus is "KILT!!!" i ran the scan in safe mode and it was able to pick it up......it does help not to look at porn...those things are like bear traps

Of the firewalls listed, I recommend ZoneAlarm. It is extremely secure and doesn't leak like many others do.

Well one true way an thats to reininstall windows as I did. Spydoctor works great though. Rein install an rip all your important stuff to disc.

That should be the last resort and is hardly ever necessary.

if you picked up the virus on the net norton will delete the trojan but will sometimes still show because it is still in temp files, internet etc. delete internet files, run search on trojans name delete those files reboot and rescan
