96 grand voyager radiator fan relay
I checked my radiator fans on my 1996 grand voyager by wiring directly to the battery and the motors are working fine. My fuse is also good. How do I check to see if the relay is working? Also, where is the relay located? Thank you.

Re: 96 grand voyager radiator fan relay
The relay is located in the power control center under the hood. Look on the back side of the cover and it should outline what each fuse and relay is for. To check it, simply wire across it and put a 12volt source to the hot terminal. You may want to use a light on the output side. If the relay is good you should hear it click and the light should come on. The other thing you might want to check is the sensor that controls the fans. It is usually located on the radiator around the radiator cap. If it is bad the fans won't work either.

Most fan systems have two circuits (and two relays). The low speed fan circuit should come on when the AC is selected. The high speed fan circuit (engine too hot) comes on when a temperature sensing switch connects from the heat. You can test this circuit by removing the connector to the temperature switch. The PCM will see a problem in the temperature circuit and run the fans all the time as a precaution.
I copied this from a previous post that yogi_123 replied to. If you search fan you should find it. Yogi, I hope you don't mind. |
