Help me pick a color

Just got the new C6 kit yesterday and I can't decide on a color. You can see all the factory colors here: http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette/colors/

I know I can match Le Mans Blue exactly, as that's what I painted the Le Mans Ed. Z06 I built last year. But then, all my Vettes are blue. Except for the red one. Daytona Sunset Orange Met. will probably be close to impossible for me with my time and $$ constraints, but that's what I thought about Sonic Blue...and then I didn't quite nail that one. Bad example. I'm leaning towards yellow, maybe a 350Z-ish yellow pearl for the not-quite-stock look...but then again, straight yellow looks awesome also. Black...eh, not that exciting...then there are the 27 shades of red. I'm pretty sure that Magnetic Red Met. is very close to what I did the 40th ann. Vette in, so that's easy. The others won't be terribly hard either. Then we finish up with silver and white, those will be easy, simple and well, I've seen a white C6. It's sex on wheels. Of course, you could paint that car Supra MSB (aka Anthracite) and it would still be sexy.

Re: Help me pick a color

do you have an airbrush at your disposal right now? i was browsing the fingernail polish a couple weeks ago and noticed a color that was quite close to sunset orange metallic! or you could hit up a paint store and get a touch up bottle! that is my fav color lol

Re: Help me pick a color

I'll be able to airbrush it this weekend.

OPI makes a dead-on Sunset Orange Met., but at $6-8 / bottle, well, no. I haven't seen anything close to Daytona Sunset Orange Met. (yes, there is a HUGE difference) but I've only really looked in one place. Besides, someone is already doing a darn good job of DSOM here. I wanna be different!

Re: Help me pick a color

How about a dark violet w/ a metallic...like almost black but not. Or how about a 2 tone?

Re: Help me pick a color

Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic, that is the most striking colour of them all, atleast in my opinion.

Re: Help me pick a color

I've seen just about all the colors in person. They're all awesome. I like the two-tone idea, but I just don't have the time for that this weekend. Maybe on the next one!

So far it's:
Black |
Victory Red |
Yellow |||
DSOM |
LMBlue ||
Other |

Yellow wins! I'm on my way to buy it now. FYI, Hobby Lobby has ALL PAINTS 1/3 off!!

I'll have pics this weekend. I hope.

Re: Help me pick a color

Interesting story.... So I was talking to this guy out at the strip, and he has an early 70's Camaro (most beautiful I've ever seen) Well turns out he painted it Corvette Millenium Yellow. Which is the color that the C6 yellow is. And he has some left over. So, my C6 is put on hold until next weekend, when I can get my hands on some GM Corvette Millenium Yellow paint. Roughly 1/2 a pint. Think that's enough?!

So...what all special stuff do I need to do to prep for actual (1 stage) automotive paint? Can I still clear it? Etc...
