smoking brakes

I just changed my rear brake pads and rear rotors on my 2002 Explorer. Now the left rear brakes and caliper seem to be smoldering. The old brake pads on the left side were totally disintegrated, but the right pads were only half worn out. Can there be a problem with the left rear caliper that is causing the pad to break apart?

Re: smoking brakes

Caliper problem. Piston is hanging up. Rebuild or replace caliper.

Re: smoking brakes

You should also check the break equalization pressure block, location under the the master break cylendar.
