I recently just had my oil changed only about a week ago. Now my change oil light is on. Can anyone think of a reason why, and if so how to fix it? Its a coupe 2001 Alero.

Re: Change oil light on
Welcome to AF.
That is because it should be manually reset after the oil change is done. See Chapter 6 of the owner's manual, around p. 6-19. Ignition to ON. Then press the RESET button located at the driver's side fuse box. When change oil light flashes, press and hold the RESET button again. Reset is complete when you see the light extinguish and hear the chimes.

Re: Change oil light on
was the oil light off after you got the oil change and then it came on again? If so then just resetting the light probally wont be the best thing to do.
But You can also reset the oil light by turning the ignition to on and pressing on the gas 3 times within 5 seconds. |

Question: Was it reset when the oil was changed? If not then just reset and it should be OK. BTW - I change oil and filter every 3K miles whether the light is on or not.
