Help please! My 95 civic ex won't start!!

Hey guys.. i need some help.. yesterday i went to the store and as i pulled into the parking lot i noticed that the car wouldn't stay in 2nd gear.. it would grind and id have to hold it in and if i let go of the shifter it will pop out into neutral.. but i dont know if that had anything to do with it.. anyways.. on the way out of the store, i tried starting the car and it wouldn't start.. just clicks.. so we towed the car home.. i just replaced the starter.. that didn't do anything.. any help would be appreciated.. thanks a lot guys..

Re: Help please! My 95 civic ex won't start!!

if theres something wrong with the clutch, its possible that thats the only problem, not the starter, any manual civic will do it, if the clutch pedal is not pushed in, it wont start, maybe when you push in the clutch, whatever is supposed to signal that its pushed in isnt signaling so your car doesnt start, my theory.

Re: Help please! My 95 civic ex won't start!!

it sounds to me like ur throwout bearing is gone or something is wrong with ur clutch. u can either go buy a chilton or helms manule and read how to change ur clutch (there are a bunch of diy on the net) or take it to a shop to get it fixed but expect it to cost alot.u try starting the car with it in neutral and having the clutch pushed in?

btw:look at my sig check out the link and see if its too hard of a job for u, u should be able to do this without having to take the engine out.

it could be your throw out bearing or it could be that switch isn't be pressed or is faulty when you push the clutch in. its you usually on the very top of the front of your clutch pedal its more like a momentary button acutually. good luck though!

and thats why the car wont start, him pushing in the clutch is having no effect on anything, and its as if he wasnt doing it at all, so his car doesnt start, just like anyother manual civic, you gotta push in the clutch to start it.

if its not starting or turnig its probably the distributor not getting the signal it should if in fact your coil is in it. if your car has power but wont start it would most likely be the throw out bearing. try going to autozone online an go into there troubleshooting section an explain your problem its free anyway an they'll give you a list of what it may be. hope i'm helping.
