Hey all,
I was wondering who you thought would possibly be the champ for this year. Though I love Dale Jr. to death, I honestly think that this years Champ will come out of the Hendricks stable, most notably Jimmie Johnson. What do you all think?

Re: 2005 Nextel Cup Champ
Don't laugh at me, but I think it'll be Greg Biffle...he's looking really strong at the moment, kind of like how Kurt Busch looked last year.

Re: 2005 Nextel Cup Champ
Biffle's got a shot, for sure. Right now, though, unless somebody does something different midway through the season, Tony Stewart (as much as it pains me to say that) and Jimmie Johnson have the best shot at the moment.

Re: 2005 Nextel Cup Champ
Biffle's is another hopeful. He was the driver who got Jack Roush his first racing championship by winning the 2000 Craftsman Truck Series & 2002 Busch Series Champion. If Johnson doesn't win, I'd look out for Biffle.

Re: 2005 Nextel Cup Champ
I to am a huge jr fan but with his new crew chief no shot in hell. But i think Rousch going to go for 3 this year.Either Biffle or Marting. Logically Biffle Sentamnental Martin.

Re: 2005 Nextel Cup Champ
Look at robby gordon a few years back at richmond when he was 3 laps down and almost one. If u have a REALLY good car nething is possible. But i beat then looked that thing up,down, and all around in inspection.

Re: 2005 Nextel Cup Champ
He was three laps down way early in the race, and every time there was a restart (which was often), he'd be in that inside lane and would pass the leader for another lap back. He had a fast car, but he had mechanical issues early on (broken lug nut). So, once he got back on the lead lap he just out-drove people. The man has skills behind the wheel, for sure, and Loomis & Co. build fast racecars.

hopefully a roush guy wins it. but I have a bad feeling that jimmie johnson will win it and dedicate it to hendricks for the loss of family last year. notice how its johnson and gordon are one and two. watch them come down pitroad and leaving guess they dont have the sensors turned on for them.

Re: 2005 Nextel Cup Champ
Junior needs to get rid of his crew chief, especially after what happened last week at Darlington. I'd rather not see a Hendrick or Roush win, but it's not looking good for DEI at the moment.

Re: 2005 Nextel Cup Champ
honestly, I can't stand Jimmie Johnson or Jeff Gordon, but as drivers, I respect them b/c they have skill and they seem to be most competitive next to the Roush boys. My sentimental favorite is Mark Martin, it's his time. 25 years later and he still is chasing that elusive 1st championship.

Re: 2005 Nextel Cup Champ
i respect gordon, i dont mind him at all... but i dont think jimmie johnson can drive, he causes wrecks all the time, he single handedly took out 30 cars at talladega... he caused two wrecks. im just glad he got swept up in the second one. but mark martin isnt just a sentimental fav for me, hes always been my favorite driver im pullin for him big time this year

Watch out for Ryan Newman. After Dover he has four straight top eights and is solidly in the top five in points. He will only get better as the Dodge teams have more time to tweak on the Charger throughout season.
