Angry 2000 Vw Turbo Beetle Is Broken

My wife's 2000 Turbo Beetle is sitting at local dealer not running right. Yesterday my wife drove the Beetle about 70 miles and then shut it off for an hour. The Beetle was dead when she tried to start it. No click just totally dead. Called tow truck and had it jumped. Various message lights flashed and went off. She then took it to a local gas station where they replaced the battery. They could not reset all the codes. She drove home the remaining 40 miles with the check engine light, ABS, and I believe ECR light on. Car would not go over forty or forty five. Took the Bettle into local VW garage this morning. The dealer reset codes and then test drove. The three warning lights came back on and top speed is forty five on even terrain. Dealer did diagnostics and said ALL Systems were FAULTY. They are not sure where to begin. My wife wanted to drive the Beetle home and leave it on street in hopes somebody would hit it and put us and it out of its misery. At least for a little while rational thinking prevailes. The Beetle is sitting at the dealer and they have no idea as to where to start to try to unravel the electrical nightmare. A moment of insanity prevailed and I told the dealer to try to come up with a logical plan of attack and not to spend more than $500 to tell me what is wrong. HELP Has anyone else with a 2000 Turbo Beetle suddenly have it go completely dead and then show every system in Failure and have a top speed of between twenty and forty depending on the terrain. Please help a very frustrated VW owner.

Sounds like time for the dealer to call in the factory. If he won't, you should.

well, your battery cables under the battery tend to corrode alot on beetles and can cause lots of electrical mishaps. Since you dont know what the codes are than its kinda hard to tell whats wrong. In all there is no reason why they would not know where to start, problably just didnt have time to look at it.

Sounds like the ECU may be screwed if all that happened at one. Since the ECU controls top speed and all light functions, you might get that tested. The battery going dead/being replaced should've reset the ECU if it was left out long enough.
