interchangable parts?

Does anyone know where I can find good information on honda interchangable parts? I have a 96 ex and want to know what honda pars I can change with other honda's with no or minimal modifications.

Like I have 99 tail lights on my 96. Alot of peeps said it wouldn't work(even the dealer mechanics), but it was an exact fit.

Thanks,
Krs

Re: interchangable parts?

yah, 99-00 tails are the exact same shape for the 96-98 coupes, not sure about the sedans though. What type of parts are wondering about? All D-series motor parts are interchangable. You can do the 99-00 front conversion, all you need is hood, headlights, grill, front bumper and fenders. And it's complete bolt on.

Re: interchangable parts?

I am thinking of interior also. Like I believe the 98 has a map light above the rearview mirror... STuff like that.

Thanks,
Krs

Re: interchangable parts?

Quite a few parts on the 96-98 model aren't swappable with the 99-00 i.e. the gas tank (found that out the hard way), but a lot will. Got some parts in mind?

Re: interchangable parts?

There is a contoversy about the 99-00 front end conversion and needing to replace the radiator support. Since i'm in the middle of this conversion, I'll be able to tell you whether or not you need it within the next week. The 99-00 rear bumper is a direct bolt on. If you want to know about a particular part, one idea is to look up aftermarket versions of the part and see what models they fit. Items that fit a 96-00 will probably be interchangeable and those that are specific to 96-98 or 99-00 won't.

Thanks. I realized this the other day when looking at theSan Leandro honda site. It's not aftermarket, but they show stock parts and the years they fit. Glad to know the rear is direct bolt.
