Question RE: Oil covered sparks plugs????

I have an '89 civic hatchback, 1.5l d15b2, 5 spd, and lately I have noticed that the car seems hard to start in the mornings and it needs a bit of gas to get started. I checked the computer and it shows code 16 (faulty fuel injector). I check the injectors and they didn't seem to be loose, plus I run 91 octane gas and fuel injector cleaner though it all of the time. But after seeing the error code, I replaced my spark plugs to find 2 of them covered in oil. What is causing this and how serious is this???

Re: RE: Oil covered sparks plugs????

Yeah could be the gromets like blue said, or leaking valve seals. Witch end had oil of it? Also just because it isnt loose and you run 91 octain and injector cleaner though it doenst mean anything, could still be bad, alot of those injector cleaners do absolutly nothing.

Also... what does the RE: in the title mean?

Re: RE: Oil covered sparks plugs????

what you failed to realize is a code 16 although it is a injector code doesnt always mean loose connection. it could also mean clogged crack or broken injector. so keep it in mind. as for the oil covered spark plugs well your burning oil and you probably need to clean the fuel system.

my crap car (damn civics)

The past few days the car has been running ok. But I worry that I might lose ol' besty. When the engine is cold, it almost stalls at the first time I apply the brakes. It is after stalling, but not so much now. As for the oil on the plug, it was on both sides, including the wires, and the car doesn't burn any oil or smoke from what little exhaust I have. (LOL). Thanks for the advice about the

Re: RE: Oil covered sparks plugs????

get a gasket set from napa
its like 22 bucks and a easy fix.2 of my plugs were
completely drowned in oil.
pull the spark plug wire out, stick your finger in hole and touch the black grommet.if its brittle and breaks like crumbs then you found the culprit.
also have you reset the ecu,to clear all previous codes ?

i had the same problem. it was the valve cover gaskets for me. pretty easy to replace. i lost one of those stupid nuts on the top of my valve cover, though... and then i found it 6 months later lodged between the radiator and the fan shroud. i was happy to have found it.

easy fix.

my old ones had remnants of that Renew crap all over it, and everything was as hard as a rock.
