Revell Ferrari F412 T1B

Hi, this is the Ferrari in which Gerhard Berger won the GP of Germany in Hockenheim 1994.

Revell did not a good job with fitting, especially with the engine cover, about 1mm space on each side at the air inlets
Then the steering is just too wide, the wheels would scrub off very fast
And last, the decals, the red squares had some little triangle at the bottom on the original car.
But that are just minor things, altogether this was a very fun kit to build

Sorry about the pics, I had some suggestions in the F2005 thread and tried them out but picture looked just the same, so it is my bad camera.

So, now, here the pics, hope you can see some of the detail painting of the suspension:

Looks to be a very nice model there behind the fuzzy pics. Is this kit a reboxed Protar? Looks to be quite well detailed for 1/24th scale, or is the front suspension detail scratchbuilt?

Re: Revell Ferrari F412 T1B

Hi there,
Despite the photos it is possible to tell that you have made a nice model there. I have only made one revell 1/24 F1 car which I did in one night unpainted a few months ago to teach myself not to start messing with them. I admire anyone who gets as good a finish as that with them.
Kind regards,
BillyPee

I don't know about the Protar kit
I built this one completely OOB, no scratchbuilding at all

Nice work. The decals look nice and simple for this one

Lovely! Not alltogether sure that that is representative of a Hockenheim wing config, but a very nice build nonetheless! Great job - keep it up...

The wing config is quite OK for hockenheim but I think it is a bit too much angle

Yeah, sorry, that's what I was talking about... Wing angle. (Sorry, English is not my first language!)

Nevertheless, great build! That's what it was about, anyways!

Also like the fact that Revell F1's are getting more and more good exposure. I've been a huge sceptic and I enjoyed the first one I did (EJ10) so much that I went out and bought another. And the first was just to get to grips with their way of thinking before takling the F2002...

You did the EJ10?
I can get handy on some for 9€, how are the tires?
Are they good as on the F2003-GA and so on or are they crap like the F1-2000 ones?

Re: Revell Ferrari F412 T1B

9 euros is good value. The late 90s MP4 (I think its the 14) in the range definitely has awful tyres.

BTW, I have just been into Modelzone (Manchester, UK) to get some "Tamiya Italian Red spray" (which they did not have by the way) and they are selling off Revell 1/12 F312T ('75 Louder! -joke) models at £20 (GBP). Bargain.

Want one of them!
That are the only big models I couldnt get cheap, they are selling for about 70-80€ here.
Bought Ferrari truck and trailier and the 126C2 for 12€ each
and the F2002, but that seemed to be an error in pricing from the dealer.
not my problem

The McLaren you are talking about has to be the MP4/12 from 1997, Revell didn't do anything after that until the MP4/20 from 2005.
The tires on the Ferrari F310B of 1997, too are quite good on my model

Re: Revell Ferrari F412 T1B

EJ10's tyres are okay, if a bit shiney. But not at all as nice and straight-forward to build as the Sauber. They have improved over time, for sure! Had some probs on getting the rear wing to allign and also to get the suspension straight... and it's still not 100%. Maybe it was just me and unfamiliarity of building Revell. *Blush* Can't compare it the F2003's tyres, sorry, since I have not laid my hands on one (yet). Discipline as never before, looking at my to-build-heap...
It (EJ10) ends up such a nice-looking model, though, that you should go and grab one for 9 euro!
