door edge guard adhesive

well when we bought the car we didn't ask for it, but it already had door edge guards and fender well moulding in place. they didn't charge us for it and since we'd waited about 2 months for it, i just wanted to get it home. recently i removed the door edge guard and it's left this sticky adhesive resin and i can't seem to get it off. what can i use without damaging the paint?

I always thought the fender ones were screwed on, but they're not. however they seem to be buch more adherent than the ones on the doors. is this a different type of glue? how can i remove it? I havn't taken off the fender trim for fear of screwing up the paint.

Buy 3M Adhesive Remover, the best product I've found to easily remove the remaining resin. Don't forget to wax that area after you are done.
