Question Leak at Sending Unit

Is it possible for oil to leak from the oil sending unit, then drip down the back of the motor and appear to be the rear main going out? I was looking around my rig this afternoon and found that the sending unit is loose like spins all the way around and my old one was tight and that there is alot of black oily stuff there and i dont have that anywhere else except for there. So is it possible to seap out then down the back of the block?

Re: Leak at Sending Unit

Yes that can happen. If it's just spinning the casing weld has cracked. Replace it.
