AFC with stock injectors?
Is there any advantage of having a AFC without upgraded injectors? Can you still tune a little with stock injectors?
Should I just wait to get the AFC and get injectors at the same time? |

Re: AFC with stock injectors?
I had the option of putting on the AFC before anything, but i just waited it out untill i got all my other fuel upgrades. you need a bigger fuel pump to flow out more fuel if your gonna get bigger injectors. or you can be like joemathews which i think he had everything except the fuel pump. and didnt hit fuel cut on his evo16g.
i think on the money to power gain on the Afc by itself is not alot if any at all. i suggest just saving a little more and getting everything at once if you can.

Re: AFC with stock injectors?
The stock fuel maps put you at 9.5:1 AFR... Thats damn rich. Leaning out to ~11:1 would certainly make some power. How much? HArd to say, but it wont hurt. If you intend to run race gas being able to lean out (to ~12:1) is even more important. At 9.5:1 I could hardly get that 117 octane shit to burn.
If you have a logger, I'd say install it now. Doesnt hurt to get a head start on the learning curve before you toss another variable (Injectors) into the mix...

Re: AFC with stock injectors?
stock t25 and fuel system: good for -20%. even seen dyno #'s in the 270tq, 220hp range and slips in the 13's all with stock turbo's and fuel system. there is power to be had for sure.
Using Mr. Jewer's fuel work sheet 440's will support no more then 28lb/min at stock 9.5 AFR (assuming stock bfp and pump gas) leaning things out to around 11.5 will net you 33.8lb/min wich is about 99.9% IDC. about as much as you can go with the stock injectors. i'd say: upgrade your injectors when you go past 30lb/min. defnitly eayser to learn how to tune things on stock fuel system.

Re: AFC with stock injectors?
Also with the AFC, you'll be getting a little more timing advance at WOT when you lean it out, so you're also getting a little advantage there too (even though the high timing can be a pain to work with later on down the road).
