and what the bloody heck is this for?

Ok, my car was making clicking noises when my AC was on. I (being a detective of sorts) decided to find out what the heck it was for myself. I pinpointed the noise to a spot under the glovebox. There seemed to be a housing under there for something rotary. I thought that might be it, so I unscrewed it and lo and behold, some slotted canister comes out!! I was like, what the bloody hell is this for? It was clogged with leaves and pollen and crap, so I pulled it all out, put it back in, and the AC runs beautifully. But what the hell is it for? It wasn't a filter, or anything like that. just some stupid spinning cylindar with slots. Anyone know what this is for? and why my owners manual doesn't mention it?

Thanks.

my car did the same thing but it wasn't just when the ac was on but it went away after a week or so. I love problems that solve themselves like that.

it was prolly the same thing. leaf musta blown out

might want to go check it anyways. Its just a pinch connector and three screws. Takes all of 5 min. to take it out and check it. all you need is a flat head screwdriver.

somebody else mentioned that it might be a fan. Bloody impractical fan, but you are probably right as I can see no other possible purpose!!

But why the heck put the fan under the glovebox? The filter into the cabin is above it! Ech, Honda did some crazy stuff with the '95. Wouldn't surprise me if there was something else under the dash I didn't know about...

thanks for asking. I put a little about it in the audio forum. Basically the blasted AIWA went back, and I ordered the Jensen (which sparq swears is good, along with GSteg) and the bloody thing went out of stock. So May 8th they will be shipping the new one out from VA. So I'm just biding my time. No other set is close to being as good for the price. I checked out CC, no deal. So I'm just waiting, with this big arsed hole in my dash....
