84 Bronco II carb issue

Hello, I have a stock 6 cyl. Bronco II as a plow vehicle. It worked perfectly on the first pass of the driveway but the 2nd time around it stalled and sounded like it was flooding itself. Sure enough when I opened the hood and tried to start it I would see gas coming out the 2 tubes on the top front of the carb and they were pouring into the carb drowning it. Are the floats stuck or something? What am I missing besides patience for this thing? FYI, I replaced the fuel lines and fuel pump already about a month ago. Thank you

Re: 84 Bronco II carb issue

You should probably tune the whole carb. It may not be the float (which I would check) as much as the jets/idle adjustment. It goes like this: As the carb goes 'bad' and the lines fill-the driver usually tunes it somewhere to compensate. (Like opening the jets a little more, or turning the idle up.) When you replace the filter/lines. More gas is flowing-so what was needed to run before is now flooding it.

The jets are underneath the carb/fuel filter the idle adjustment may be on the side/back.

Re: 84 Bronco II carb issue

so I should check if the floats are stuck and if it still doesn't run right counterclockwise turn the adjustment screws. Gotcha. Also, I was told to put the straw from a can of carb cleaner down in the 2 tubes and spray the crap out of it. Just understand this truck is not worth a ton of effort, it's just a work horse. Thank you

BITE YOUR TONGUE! The workhorses need the most love!

Yes, you were told, "right" about the straw thing. As stated, if you were picking up gunk through the bad lines...it would stop at the carb. So you should also spray thehellouttavit to free up the last bits that are stuck in.
