nut and bolt in tranny pan

found where the nut and bolt go. any idea how far to screw it in? and why did it come out in the first place?
Working on a 99 ford windstar. trans filter maintenance Can I use the original gasket?

You can use the original gasket...forever. As far as the nut and bolt, we can't tell you how far to screw it in unless you tell us where it goes. If it's a valve body bolt, just tighten it to about 10-12 ft lbs. That's not an exact spec, but it's pretty close to where they usually go and if the others are right, it should be good enough.

not sure what you mean by a valve body bolt. The nut and bolt must be something that keeps trans fluid from coming out of the hole it screws into. ( A Valve?) The top of the bolt can be ajusted by a ?allen wrench. The nut seems to be there to lock down the bolt once its adjusted correctly. Thanks for the info on the gasket.

okay so the nut bolt assembly thing is called a reverse drum anchor pin bolt. the haynes manual says "not to tighten it at this time" but they never refer back to it. this is a front wheel drive transmission an AXOD. All i wanted to do was change the fluid.
So if anyone can help me determine the correct depth and torque it would be a great help.
