What's your gas mileage on Rodeo 4WD 3.2?
I'm getting about 14 MPG on a 2000 Rodeo 4WD, 58K miles. Is this typical of the breed, or is it low?

I've gotten an high as 21-22 mpg on the road but around town 14-15 is, sadly, pretty normal. My overall average for the past 18 months is about 18.8 mpg but that's with about 80% highway miles.

If I keep to the speed limit, I'll get around 15.5. If I keep going 95 everywhere, I can get as crappy as 11mpg

I average 17 mpg in the summer and about 15 in the winter. Not bad for a Rodeo but when I compare it to the 41 mpg the GF's Civic EX got on our last trip to PA...

Gotta keep in mind, big V-6 and the truck weighs in at nearly 4000 pounds. My 2wd 3/4 ton Chevy only weighs 500 pounds more than my Rodeo.

Now that I've taken 'full possession' of our rodeo (just found out 3 car seats wont fit, 3rd baby on the way, wife's due in a week or two
) I've been getting about 20-21mpg's driving it like granny. Mostly because I paid $3.49/gal on my last fillup !!! I know I've been an advocate of airing the tires only to door-jamb specs, but I actually aired them to 32psig all the way around. I think this helped the numbers out as well.G/luck Joel

20-22mpg, every time i clean the PCV i'll get 22 mpg for as week or two, (EGR valve cleaning helps too) .... she'll get back to 20 mpg over a few weeks. i run 60 miles round trip to work and back, north chicago suburbs from stop and crawl to +70. i do inflate my tires to 34psi and she's not overly quick in a lane change.

well i do have standard tires, 16in x 245/70 and a manual tranny, i don't shift at low rpms, it think this engine likes higher rpms (i know she scoots pretty good around 3000 to 4000 rpms) my normal shift points are around 3000. i clean the egr valve as posted here in the faqs and other posts.....unbolt and spray with o2 safe injector cleaner, working the pintal valve. i have brushed the tube from the exaust to the egr valve with the engine running, kinda messy not too bad. the pcv is a snap, just remove and spray with cleaner and shake, then some gentle compressed air. seems to me the pcv cleaning is where i notice the most improvement in mileage. i hope this helps, 15mpg is expensive these days!
kind regards, Joseph
