drive by wire
I was wondering if someone could explain the "drive by wire" and how the throttle cable works on a 2000 Rodeo ls v6. Is there any points for adjustment or lubrication? Does the spring at the throttle body need lubrication and what is best for lubrication?

Drive by wire means there is no physical connection between the pedel and the throttle body. In other words, no throttle cable or linkage. The vehicles computer receives a variable voltage from the throttle pedel and relays a signal to a stepper motor on the throttle body which opens and closes the throttle. I don't think you need to lube anything, but it is always a good idea to keep things clean.

Yep, there's no user 'serviceable' parts on the TBW system that I know of. This setup was yet another testing ground for GM/Delphi electronics. Great for tractors (semi's), mass-transit buses and rear engine vehicles, but totally not needed for our trucks. I dread the day mine decides to go south ($$$)!!
