Poll: What oil filter are U running?
Sorry if it's been asked before; I've heard from some about filters they like - but thought that it'd be good to put all responses in one area.
I've been running OEM mostly, with a Bosch premium here and there. Would like to try Puralator Premium. Anyone find one that works best for the "tick"?

I use Napa brand which is Wix with Napas name on them. Wix has made the best filters for decades.

The purolator premium plus filters are very good filters. If you've been at bitog you've probably already seen the oil filter study. I believe this filter uses a nitrile adbv which isn't quite as good as a silicon adbv found in the pureone (and other filters like the wix). I've also used the napa gold (wix) filter and it performed like the pureone as far as ticking is concerned. I go with the pureones cuz they're available at pepboys which is more convenient then napa for me. But, I wouldn't hesitate to use either the pureone or wix(napa gold). |

I've been running the napa/carquest wix filters for a few years, but really, oil filters seem to come in 3 ranges, the $2 cheapies, the $5 premiums (you can lump OEM's in here) and the $10 botique filters like amsoil, K&N, mobil-1, etc... really anything $5 & up is a pretty darn good filter. I've seen how nasty cheap frams look cut apart & I that's all I used years ago. Never had a problem with them either!

I use the "cheapie" Wal-Mart Super Tech brand. Made in USA by Champion labs-supposed to be excellent filters.

Amsoil SDF20. A little over 20,000 miles since I started using them. No complaints or problems. Use the Amsoil oil as well.
Second choice would be the Hastings or Motorcraft. A Motorcraft is a Purolator PureOne with a Motorcraft label and half the cost. |

Purolator PureOne. Any ticking is very short lived.

I've been buying the fram tough gaurd for like 4 bucks at wal mart and it rated pretty well on that web site. but I did use the mobile 1 fiter one time and it DID lessen that ticking noise by a noticable amount. It didnt get rid of it though. I always try to use the you get what you pay for stategy. I wouldnt want to trust my rodeo to a 2 dollar filter and fram is too cheap to make an expensive one so i figured the best for the money was the tough gaurd......and i love the grips
