Clear coat advise

Just finished painting a 70 Super Bee with Boyds Grape Pearl, and I am ready to shoot the clear. Now heres where I need some advise, I've been using House of Kolor acrylic lacquer clear over duplicolor paints with excellent results, now I know that shooting a lacquer over enamels is taboo but has anyone done this without having a bad reaction. Anyone have any advise on other brands of clear to use??

Messing with laquer over enamel is asking for trouble. You could also use Tamiya acrylic clear- either way, give the enamel plenty of time to outgas before covering it with anything.

Re: Clear coat advise

Anyway the original poster of this thread has essentially answered his own question. Lacquer over enamel is as likely to end in disaster as anything. So if this Boyds paint is enamel and you want to clear coat it, use enamel or acrylic.

Re: Clear coat advise

I use duplicolor on boyd's, light coats at first and you'll be fine.
