2001 Blazer console and stereo removal
I have almost taken the console off to get to my delco radio but the wires that go to my lights, 4 wheel drive controls, etc are in the way and do not want to come out of their sockets -- how do I remove them. Also how do I remove the delco radio (I am installing a ipod adaptor into the aux-cd changer port), the wires on the radio seem to be short because the radio doesnt move that much once I unscrew everything. Sorry, but one last question; where do I drop the cable which goes into my ipod? Is there and opening under the radio somewhere to have the wire come out.

Harnesses should just unclip from the switches that are mounted in the part of the dash you are removing; each one should have a clip on the side that you push in and pull the harness out.
On my 2002, the radio pulls out after you remove the 3 fasteners holding it in place; don't know if your 2001 is different or not. Lastly, since this wire is just a signal from the Ipod to the radio (i.e. not a power wire that could ground out), you can snake the wire out anywhere you want; you have to decide where you want the Ipod to sit first. Hope this helps! |
