Extreme vibration and engine knocking above 60mph
Have a 93 corolla and in 4th and especially 5th gear starting around 50mph the steering wheel begins to violently vibrate as does the rest of the car and if you push it to about 60mph you can hear extreme loud knocking in the engine. Any ideas on what to do?

Is it rpm dependent... can you get the knocking to occure in neutral ? Vibration at hight speeds could be allignment issues. But since you say it happens on a certain gear it could be trans. Are all your engine, trans, and radiator fluids full? It also could be engine mounts.

Been a lot of buzz about replacing the motor mount located on the passengers-side.

I would have a look at the tie rods; make sure they are still tight; in addition, when was the lastime you had your wheels balanced? If they were severly out of balance, it could cause some rotten wheel shimmy if you lost a weight.
